GC Dry Mouth Gel
GC Dry Mouth Gel is made by the dental company GC the same dental company that developed Recaldent. It is recommended for patients that have saliva issues due to age, or illness or cancer.

Tubes come to us in boxes of assorted flavours, Therefore we ask for your flavour preference but cannot always guarantee that the flavour you choose will be in stock. The most popular flavour is always the Mint.

How To Use GC Dry Mouth Gel
What is it. Dry Mouth Gel is a new product from GC designed specifically to ease symptoms in patients with impaired production of saliva, for example from medications, radiation treatment, or diseases which can damage the salivary glands. The pH varies between 7.2 and 6.3 (depending upon flavour) and forms a long lasting layer which protects the delicate oral tissues.

Which patients will benefit. Patients with the following conditions may benefit from GC Dry Mouth Gel. Mouth breathing during sleep, Drug-induced dry mouth from prescription or over-the-counter products, Sjogrens syndrome, Radiation treatment, Other long standing conditions which can impair salivary flow, for example diabetes mellitus, chronic hepatitis C infection, and connective tissue auto-immune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematous.

How to apply it. GC Dry Mouth Gel can be applied most easily by expressing a generous amount of the gel from the tube onto a clean finger, and then smearing the gel over the surfaces of the teeth and mouth tissues. This should be anytime during the day as required. When applied at night before bed it should be after normal tooth brushing. Note that GC Dry Mouth Gel does not interfere with the actions of fluoride products or GC Tooth Mousse.

How long will it be effective. Up to four hours of relief from symptoms of dryness can be expected when GC Dry Mouth Gel is used during waking hours. Applying the gel immediately before bed will help minimize interruptions to sleep from symptoms of oral dryness.

Can it also be used for Denture Wearers. GC Dry Mouth Gel can be used under lower full dentures as a tissue protectant and lubricant. When placed inside an upper full denture, it may replace the cohesive retention effect which is normally gained from saliva. However it does not replace the need for a separate denture fixative. GC Dry Mouth Gel does not stain or damage acrylic, chrome-cobalt or other denture base materials.

What flavours are available. For someone who needs GC Dry Mouth Gel it is a product that has to be applied several times daily for many months and/or years. The purpose of different flavours is to provide a variety of different tastes to not only relive dry mouth but also to provide a number of pleasant alternatives to make the mouth feel fresh and more comfortable. GC Dry Mouth Gel is available in Orange, Lemon, Raspberry, Mint and Fruit Salad Flavours. Tubes are 40gm size that fits easily into the pocket or handbag and is available for immediate use whenever necessary.

Is it safe to swallow. Yes. GC Dry Mouth Gel is normally less than 1mL per application, with several applications per day. A pea size amount is approximately 500mg, which would be ingested slowly over a period of several hours

How to use it with GC Tooth Mousse. Patients with impaired salivary flow have an imbalance in the ions needed for protecting dental hard tissues. They are prone to dentinal hypersensitivity, dental erosion and dental caries. GC Dry Mouth Gel soothes the symptoms of oral dryness and helps buffer acid pH but does not boost the levels of bio-avalable calcium, phosphate and fluoride ions. To meet this requirement, either GC Tooth Mousse or Tooth Mousse Plus should be used in combination with GC Dry Mouth Gel.
